In partnership with International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) we bring you an online conversation about “The Fifth Story”, a film by Iraqi filmmaker Ahmed Abd. The film portrays how different generations still carry the burden of war with them. In his fragmentary style, Abd often takes a poetic approach, documenting the physical and mental devastation whilst at the same time cautiously opening a door to beauty and contemplation. The Fifth Story had its world premiere at IDFA 2020, and received the FIPRESCI Award at the IDFA Festival.
