Nora Bacour in Dubai!

"This experience has strengthened my commitment to bridging research"
This February, I had the privilege of traveling to Dubai, UAE, to attend the Gulf Aorta Summit as part of the Lutfia Rabbani Foundation Travel Grant. This opportunity allowed me, as an MD/PhD student, to present my research on aortic care and to engage directly with leading professionals in the field.
The Summit was an immersive experience, combining high-level scientific discussions with hands-on demonstrations of the latest innovations in aortic surgery and treatment. I was particularly inspired by the sessions on patient-specific management strategies, which provided new perspectives I hope to integrate into my own research. Engaging with international experts not only deepened my technical knowledge but also sparked conversations about potential collaborations and future research directions.
Beyond the academic program, I was able to explore Dubai’s dynamic cityscape and observe how healthcare innovation intersects with global urban development. The city itself is a testament to rapid transformation and forward-thinking design, offering insights into how medical conferences can serve as platforms for both scientific exchange and cultural learning.
Presenting my work in this international setting also emphasized the importance of clear communication and collaboration. The feedback I received from senior clinicians and researchers helped refine my approach and broadened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities in aortic care across different healthcare systems.
This experience has strengthened my commitment to bridging research and clinical practice while fostering international networks. I look forward to sharing the insights I gained with my peers at my home institution and incorporating the lessons learned into both my research and future professional engagements.
