On November 2018, the Lutfia Rabbani Foundation joined forces with prestigious Leiden University to officially establish a new matching fund called the Leiden University Fund – Lutfia Rabbani Foundation Scholarship.

Supporting talent

The Fund shall provide one full scholarship annually to a master student from an Arab country to attend an advanced master programme at Leiden University. Moreover, this student will be granted with a mentoring programme that offers guidance on a personal and professional level and also provides access to the Foundation’s extensive and diverse network and platforms. The goal of this joint scholarship is to support exceptional students that have demonstrated academic excellence and possess a passion for promoting Euro-Arab dialogue.

Both the Foundation and LUF recognize that international scholarships can be an effective and sustainable way of promoting dialogue and understanding. This belief has now led to the establishment of a new joint scholarship. Leids Universiteits Fonds looks forward to welcoming the ambitious and talented students who are given the chance to study at Leiden University because of the Foundation’s generous donation. Their annually awarded scholarships will be matched by LUF.

Education is a key element for bridging the gap between Europe and the MENA region, as it builds mutual understanding and respect. By promoting education and intercultural exchange, we are one step closer to building a better future for both regions.

Leiden University is the oldest university in the Netherlands, founded in 1575. It is one of the leading international research universities in Europe and has seven faculties and a campus in both Leiden and The Hague. Its motto is Praesidium Libertatis – Bastion of Freedom.

Both the Lutfia Rabbani Foundation and Leiden University recognise that international scholarships can be an effective and sustainable way of promoting dialogue and understanding. This belief has now led to the establishment of this matching scholarship.
